In the heart of Munich, the Schlachthofviertel (literally “Slaughterhouse District”) has transformed from a former meat-processing area into an urban playground of creativity, history, and lived subculture.
What once echoed with the sounds of industry now pulses with alternative energy – loud, colorful, and unpolished.
The area is especially famous for its street art scene: building walls, bridge pillars, and old industrial facades have become vibrant canvases for large-scale graffiti.
Street art isn’t just tolerated here – it’s celebrated. With several “Walls of Fame” and a renowned “Hall of Fame” along Thalkirchner and Tumblingerstraße, the area has become a hotspot for graffiti artists from across Europe.
We kick off our Beerwalk at the iconic Bierkiste. It may look like a beverage store, but it’s so much more! A short walk takes us into the neighboring

We end our tour at one of Munich’s quirkiest landmarks: the

I’ve never been to Munich, even though Germany borders Poland. The district where street artists can unleash their talents must be an interesting place. Some of the works are spectacular. The era of scribbling on walls is over. Street art is thriving.
Wow, I had no idea there was so much beautiful street art in Munich. I’ve only seen it in Berlin. The Bier Kiste is the perfect place for a refreshing drink. I prefer Weizen.If I’m ever in Munich again, I absolutely have to go there.

Love the itinerary described here. For me a trip or tour that shows the great History of a town, great food places and areas that locals love to eat and drinks, is all what traveling is about. I want to experience the local side of things not the tourist traps. The graffiti in Munich also looks fab and throw in beer tasting and drinking too, it’s a perfect itinerary.
